∗REACH is a European Union regulation concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation & restriction of CHemicals. It ensures chemicals and chemical-based products are sold and distributed responsibly. REACH prohibits the use of certain ingredients, yet some manufactures continue to use them in additives and lubricants. Some MSDS’s (Material Safety Data Sheets) are falsified or just not REACH compliant, i.e. some U.S. written MSDS’s. Except under certain circumstances it is an offense to distribute products with non-REACH-approved ingredients or a non-REACH-approved MSDS.
∗∗The CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) Regulation is a United Nations’ Globally Harmonised System on the classification and labelling of chemicals (GHS) across all European Union countries, including the UK. By law any hazardous chemical (including most fuel additives) sold to the public must be in suitable packaging with CLP (or old CHIP) compliant labelling. Despite this, some importers/distributors and even small manufacturers plead ignorance and put non-compliant products on the market. -Some are recognised brands.
